Plants Over Plastic is a local business providing biodegradable and reusable solutions to the world's plastic waste problem. Sourcing their products from Mozambique, Plants Over Plastic place emphasis on a Fair-trade. Local farmers and sellers are paid FULL market price for the coconut bowls and the Khanyiso straws, so there are no middle-men or undercutting of prices.
Income is provided for the skilled, local artisans from the community who use a variety of techniques and tools to create these unique products. As part of the deal, the artisans also get to keep the meat and water from the coconuts they fashion bowls from, in addition to their wages.
When you buy a coconut bowl or a khanyiso straw, you are not just buying a beautiful product; you are putting food on someone's table, enabling them to earn a living, and learn skills that they can apply for the rest of their life!
