Demerara is a popular and prized baker's alternative to refined white sugar. Named after its place of origin, Demerara (now Guyana), it is now usually imported from other countries such as Jamaica, Mauritius, and Hawaii. This Mauritius produced Natura Fine Demerara Sugar is golden brown with fine, sparkling amber crystals and is ideal for bringing out the aroma of your coffee, sprinkling on cereal, fruit and in cakes. It adds a light texture, slightly warm caramel flavour and golden colour to your baked goods, and extra crunchiness to crumbles, flapjacks and biscuits. This unrefined sweetener is considered mild-tasting.
