However, although it’s oil-free, it feels very oily and leaves me with a shine. This isn’t the end of the world though because it doesn’t break me out. The white cast takes less than a minute to disappear while rubbing in and while the smell is pretty weird, you get used to it. It’s really not a ‘mattifying’ product for me (I have combination skin) but maybe it’s perfect if you’re using it without any other moisturizer. Like I said though, I’ll repurchase because it’s free from any toxic ingredients.08/10/2018, By KellyAbsolutely amazing, I love this product. I used this on my face throughout a beach holiday and did not have any sunburn or irritation.28/09/2018, By CloeThis is an excellent quality SPF and the only one I can find in South Africa that meets my criteria. 1. It must be zinc oxide, which is the most skin and environment friendly. 2. The amount of zinc must be at least 20% for it to be truly effective against aging and sun damage. I love the Kids Sunumbra as well, but that is 19% and my skin does burn through it. 3. There must be absolutely no poly or unsaturated oils in the sunscreen. When I see sunflower oil in a sunscreen, I shudder. It's so volatile in the sun that you're aging more than you're preventing. Read up on unsaturated oils, don't use them on your face. 4. It must not break me out. I can not emphasize how important this is to me. If a sunscreen gives me acne, I'm rather going to go without sunscreen. Now I can get to the points where this sunscreen may fall short, where I wish we had other sunscreens of this caliber available in SA. 1. This sunscreen is white. It does not rub in clear no matter how long I rub. I am very fair (think nw15 at my most tan) and this looks white on me. I have to wear some sort of lightly tinted bb cream or something over it. Keep in mind that you need to use about half a teaspoon on your face alone to be truly protected. 2. The lemony smell is really noticeable, but it does not cause burning or irritation for me. 3. This sunscreen is shiny. If you don't like dewy, you're going to want to mattify it. I will continue buying this sunscreen for as long as its the highest quality SPF available in SA. If there's one skincare item I don't mind spending on, its high quality sunscreen. It's much thicker than any sun cream I've used before. You have to blend it well into your skin or it will leave a white film. Smells a bit like a natural mosquito repellant which I actually like. Gives long lasting protection and my skin felt hydrated. Which is exactly what I wanted from a sun cream.19/11/2017, By AGI bought this as an everyday SPF, but it turned out to be a bummer. It has a thick texture that makes it hard to a)mix in the tube to ensure you don't squirt out a separated mess, and b) apply without tugging horribly at delicate skin. The smell of the lemon balm is quite off putting and it stung my skin every time I applied it. What's worse is that it doesn't set and leaves a heavy, tacky feeling on the skin. You can absolutely forget about trying to apply any kind of makeup over this - it just makes a cakey mess. Tossed it when it started changing colour. I use as a sunblock where ever I need it.
