I have been using this for months as a purse and it still looks brand new. You can hand wash it if the material gets dirty.

Love this little bag so much, it is beautifully made, and I must just note that the back is leatherette and the whole thing isn't the hemp striped material. I love it though.

The stripe fabric looks even better in person (slightly lighter) and is soft but double lined for durability and strength. It has a smooth YKK zip. I was surprised that the stripe fabric is only obe side, and the other side of the bag is a matte black 'leatherette' (according to Hemporium's own site, where I looked it up, since it was not stated clearly on here) and I am not sure eco-wise what it is made of, but it is soft and flexible but strong. I am happy with this little pencil bag/ purse.
