No come on guys, this stuff is awesome! You just have to get used to the change. Really tasty, and after using it for a while now my teeth have never looked so good. Plastic free is great and especially the plastic free LABEL which is unusual and great

This product works well, I am just having a hard time getting used to the taste.

It took me three days to get used to the texture and taste of the toothpaste. The toothpaste doesn't foam in your mouth but after awhile, these things didn't bother me anymore. My teeth feel amazingly clean and I definitely recommend this product.

I obviously like the fact that this is plastic free, and all of that good stuff but I really do not like the sweet taste and I don't feel like my mouth is fresh after using it, I don't get any of the peppermint flavour of it.

This toothpaste cleans teeth and gums very well. It whitens my teeth too. Still getting used to the flavour, but it works well

Takes some getting used to - texture,taste and no foam - but persevere! Used with an electric toothbrush my teeth actually feel cleaner than with conventional toothpaste

Nice green alternative for toothpaste. I'm just bought it for the third time. It takes a while to get used to the fact that your mouth does not feel as fresh as with main stream toothpaste, but it tastes good. My teeth is still as white as it was before. Also no bad breath complaints.

I just added this to my cart as soon as I read Anne's reply to Newgirlharper. A lot of us on the journey to greener living tend to source our information from the internet which is convenient to access but not always exactly correct in it's information. I think we could all benefit from verifying the source of whatever information we come across. And then possibly finding another journal which correlates with that information and take care when reading up on these things as sample sizes matter and can give false positives/negatives. I can't wait to receive my jar and review it again from personal experience.

I have not tried this product as I make my own "earthpaste". I am alarmed to see that this range of natural toothpaste recipes contain glycerin. Glycerin coats the teeth thus blocking any minerals from getting to the enamel. It is said that it takes up to 30 times of brushing without glycerin to remove the glycerin buildup on the tooth enamel. It is really worth researching individual ingredients...thus allowing one to make an informed decision.

"At The Apothecary we take tremendous care in the choice of each ingredient we use. We only include those we believe to be truly useful and benign. The glycerin in our toothpaste is both of these.

The theory that glycerin coats teeth in a layer that is difficult to remove and prevents remineralisation is mentioned in several places on the internet; however, like much online information, it is without substance according to our extensive research into the scientific literature as well as by our own careful observations. Glycerin is highly water soluble and dissolves readily in both water and saliva, and so it is easily washed away after brushing.

The very reason we use glycerin in out toothpaste is to aid mineralisation. The many minerals we add to our toothpaste (calcium, magnesium, boron, zinc etc.) are in a dry powdered form. As glycerin is an excellent solvent, much like our natural saliva, it allows these minerals to be made more readily available to our teeth. As the toothpaste mingles with saliva during brushing, the pre-dissolved minerals bathe the teeth and gums, giving them a better chance of being absorbed right where they are most useful for tooth repair.

Furthermore, glycerin has a pleasant, sweet taste and smooth texture which adds to the enjoyment of brushing. It also prevents the paste from drying out. At the same time, glycerin stops bacteria from reproducing, helping to preserve the integrity of the toothpaste while still in the jar, as well as inhibiting bacterial growth in the mouth.

Glycerin is present in all plant and animal cells and is non-toxic. It is a natural by-product derived from all fats during soap-making. Much glycerin is derived from petroleum oil and factory farmed animal tallow; however, we use only plant derived glycerin from non-GM rapeseed.

Delicious! This stuff is kind of weird at first but tastes fantastic and cleans really well. I'm so pleased to find a natural toothpaste with all those strengthening minerals AND the detoxing clay. I won't go back to foamy rubbish

I like it but my husband thinks it smells and tastes like petroleum...
Does the job.. doesn’t always remove strong flavors like garlic from your mouth and I feel I need to use more then a pea size amount.. closer to double... the paste dissolves quite fast and becomes very liquid in your mouth. So brush immediately

I'm determined to get used to it. I can't bear the thought of using commercial toothpaste with SLS any longer. This paste is nothing like any toothpaste I've ever used; I don't feel as well cleaned as usual, but it tastes nice and I am sure my mouth is clean - just have to get used to it. No more detergent in my mouth.- YAY

This toothpaste takes some getting used. It tastes great, but, like other organic toothpastes, it has a grainy texture and doesn't lather. It also dissolves quickly in the mouth, so you need to spread the toothpaste over your teeth fast and immediately start brushing. I usually do my top and bottom rows of teeth separately because of this. I can't say whether or not it is better than commercial toothpastes in terms of freshness, because I've not noticed much of a difference, but what appeals to me is that this toothpaste comes in a glass jar. It would be good to know what kind of plastic the lid is made from, so that it could be recycled, too (it's not printed on the product or the lid at the moment). If you're ordering the toothpaste for a couple or a family, you should order one jar per person, because, towards the end of its life, the toothpaste becomes difficult to get out of the jar unless you scoop it out with your toothbrush.

This has taken quite a bit of getting used to - it's very different to any other tooth cleaning product I have tried. It has a very firm texture (though it is winter so maybe in warmer weather it will be softer), and I've found it easiest to scrape a piece off the top, then place it directly into the mouth and brush. That said, the taste is great and it leaves a good clean feeling on the teeth. I like it - just don't expect it to behave like normal toothpaste.

Love this toothpaste. It does take some getting used to, as the texture and flavour are way different from conventional toothpaste! Now that I'm used to it, I LOVE the flavour and the super fresh clean feeling after I've brushed my teeth. I also find that my mouth feels fresher for longer!
